POLLARD, Alfred William (1859-1944)
British Museum 1883-1924 (Keeper of Printed Books 1919)
An eminent bibliographer and Shakespeare and pre-Shakespeare scholar he was closely associated with The library during its period as the LA 'organ' and then subsequently as Editor. He was made LA Honorary Fellow in 1924. He became the Honorary Secretary of the Bibliographical Society on its foundation in 1893 and in 1924 assumed responsibility for the now indispensable STC (1926).
